There are various activities you can do while you’re there, like taking pictures with characters and checking out the movie-set replicas, but here are just a few interesting things you can do to get a glimpse of what makes Popeye Village such an iconic attraction.

Popeye Village looks like a scene straight out of a movie. It’s an art village with colorful buildings and calm, scenic surroundings. There are plenty of things to do here, from exploring the natural beauty to enjoying the many amenities the village has to offer. The park is open 24 hours and visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing in the lake, hiking around on one of the many trails that start at the village, or take part in one of their events.
The natural beauty is only a small part of what makes this place so special- there is also incredible art. Artists have set up shop throughout the grounds for you to come explore. You can find pottery, paintings, jewelry, sculptures and much more at the various shops found throughout the area. You’ll be able to walk through them all if you choose to explore by foot!

Popeye village is a place like no other. This unique place was once a movie set for the 1980 film Popeye, and is now a popular tourist destination. Driving through Popeye village, you can’t help but be taken in by its charm. The brightly colored buildings and quaint streets make it feel like you’ve stepped into a different world. And despite being a popular tourist spot, Popeye village still feels like a hidden gem. In fact, while I was there on a Monday morning during summer vacation season, I didn’t see another car or person on the road. It’s amazing to think that this could have been my experience driving through if I hadn’t stopped at all! If you’re ever in the area, stop by Popeye village and explore its beauty. You won’t regret it!
Getting lost inside Popeye village does come with some dangers, though. Since everything is so colorful, it’s easy to get distracted by just how nice everything looks. Before you know it, you’ll forget your original goal (taking pictures) and end up just wandering around taking more and more photos with each step.

The easy way to get there

To get to Popeye Village, you can take a direct flight from Malta International Airport to Gozo Island. Once you’re on the island, it’s a short 10-minute drive to the village. Alternatively, you can take a ferry from Malta to Gozo Island.
The ferry ride is about 25 minutes long and departs every 45 minutes. On arrival at Mgarr Harbour in Mgarr, walk through customs before taking a right turn out of the terminal building and then follow the signs for Village Square. If you are travelling during high season (March to October), make sure that your passport has at least six months validity.
Otherwise, you may be turned away. There are two buses per day running between Valletta and Popeye Village, with an average duration of 30 minutes. Though there are no public transportation options from Sliema to Valletta, there are plenty of car rental agencies at both airports.

Popeye village is a must-see for any fan of the Popeye franchise. But even if you’re not a fan, this place is still worth a visit. Here’s what you need to know to plan your trip. You can only buy tickets on site so arrive early enough that you have time to explore everything before they close.
Tickets are $7 USD per person and the museum is open daily from 9 am until 5 pm. It takes about an hour and half to go through everything. They give you free audio guides in multiple languages. In order to get the most out of your experience, it’s best to do some research ahead of time on what exhibits interest you and read about them on the audio guide before entering each room.

Keep in mind that there are some portions of this village where you’ll be walking over uneven surfaces or narrow paths with deep ditches along side them which may make wheelchairs difficult or impossible to navigate.
