I was roaming around the beautiful city Tulum when I came across this little gem.
One of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever visited in my life has to be Tulum, Mexico. It’s located on the southeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula and has become famous for its white sandy beaches, turquoise ocean waters, numerous cenotes (natural underground wells), and Mayan ruins located just outside the city limits. Since it was low season when I visited, I had the whole place pretty much to myself! Here are some photos of what I saw while roaming around this beautiful city Tulum.
City Roaming
Tulum is a place that’s rich in art and natural beauty. From the beaches to the jungles, there’s so much to explore. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to add it to your list of things to do! You won’t regret it.
The Maya archaeological site El Rey may be a good place to start – from here you can walk along the coast or go exploring into the jungle. Alternatively, if sunbathing and swimming are more up your alley, spend some time at Playa Norte – which is also known as Hidden Beach. It’s hard to find, but worth it for the lush scenery and cool waters. Along with all these fantastic destinations, Tulum has plenty of great restaurants for eating out and getting a taste of the local cuisine.
At Mamita Chiquita, try fresh seafood like shrimp ceviche and grilled fish; Casa Banana Grande offers traditional Mexican dishes like chicken mole; or for something lighter and healthier try their vegetarian specialties. There’s something for everyone in Tulum!
Tourist Attractions
There are many tourist destinations in Tulum, from the ancient ruins to the natural beauty of the beaches. But there are also many things to do for those who want to experience the culture and history of the city. Here are some of my favorite things to do in Tulum:
- Visit the ancient ruins.
- Go snorkeling or diving at one of the many cenotes.
- Take a walk through the jungle and experience the wildlife up close.
- Relax on one of the stunning beaches.
- Shop at one of the many markets for souvenirs or local goods.
- Learn about the history and culture of Tulum at one of the museums or galleries.
- Get some authentic Mexican food while you’re here!
- And don’t forget to explore downtown Tulum where you’ll find plenty of artisans selling their crafts and wares.
Street Art
I was walking down the street admiring the street art when I came across a small shop called The Little Gem. The shop was filled with beautiful handmade jewelry, and I fell in love with a pair of earrings immediately. The owner, Juana, was so sweet and told me all about how she makes her jewelry. She said that each piece is unique and inspired by the natural beauty of Tulum. I left the shop with a new pair of earrings and a smile on my face. Thanks, Juana, for making my day!
If you’re looking to pick up some handcrafted pieces during your stay in Tulum, make sure to stop at The Little Gem! It’s one of my favorite shops downtown. There are also lots of other cute places to check out like Quetzalli Art Gallery where they host local artists and El Danzante Mexican Restaurant where they serve delicious dishes made from fresh ingredients straight from their garden outside – perfect if you’re looking for a taste of Mexico while staying here.
And if you get hungry after your stroll through town, just hop over to Zamas Grill House & Bar where they have tasty tacos al pastor and refreshing margaritas.
Favourite Places
I absolutely love Tulum. It’s a magical place with so much to offer. From the stunning beaches to the fascinating ancient ruins, there’s something for everyone. And of course, the food is incredible. I could spend hours wandering around, taking in all the sights and sounds of this amazing city.
But one of my favourite things about travelling to Tulum is just being able to explore the area on foot, rather than having to rely on tours or taxis. It gives you such an insight into what life must be like here – it’s full of joy and colour! It’s not too hard to find local produce either. You can’t help but feel drawn towards the aroma as you wander past stalls overflowing with herbs, fruit and vegetables.
There are also plenty of quirky bars that have been decorated with things like driftwood and strings of coloured lights, making them so inviting to relax in for a drink or two. And if you happen to stumble across some live music playing at any point during your day, then that really adds to the atmosphere! If only I had enough time on this trip…
Local Experience
I was walking around Tulum when I came across a market. The market had a bunch of different vendors selling their wares. I walked around and looked at all the different things they had for sale. I ended up buying a couple of souvenirs for myself and my friends back home.
After I left the market, I walked around some more and came across a spot that overlooked the whole city. It was breathtaking. I sat there for a while and just took in the view. I then decided to head back to the hotel because it was getting late. When I got back to the hotel, it started raining so hard that you couldn’t see anything outside. Despite being tired from exploring the day before, I went out with my friend anyways to get dinner.
We tried one of those taco stands because we figured they would be open during the rain storm. Surprisingly enough, they were open and we were able to get some really good tacos! They were pretty tasty considering they weren’t the best-looking tacos. Anyway, after dinner we headed back to our hotel room and called it a night since neither of us could keep our eyes open any longer.
Markets and Spots
The market was so vibrant and alive with people and colors. The stalls were set up in long rows with canopies providing shade from the sun. I walked around taking in all the sights and sounds of the market, until I came across a spot that caught my eye. It was a small cafe tucked away in a corner, with mismatched chairs and tables and strings of lights hanging overhead.
The menu had simple, but delicious sounding dishes like fresh fish tacos and avocado toast. I ordered the tacos and they did not disappoint! The fresh fish, combined with the crispy shell and zesty sauce, made for a perfect bite. As I sat there enjoying my meal, I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was to have stumbled upon this little gem. It’s always fun to come across an out-of-the-way place that has a story to tell. And while it may be easy to overlook these spots at first glance, they are often the most special ones. They provide a glimpse into what life is really like, letting you feel more connected to the locals and their culture.
The markets also make for an interesting activity as you explore Tulum on your own time. You’ll see everything from brightly colored clothes to spices, fresh produce, knickknacks, jewelry…it’s hard not to buy something or get lost in conversation with one of the vendors.
