Chiang Mai – A Winsome Destination in an Attractive City
Chiang Mai has some of the most beautiful scenery in Thailand, with lush forested mountains surrounding an attractive city that’s easy to get around. In addition to its natural beauty, Chiang Mai is also home to plenty of attractions that are both entertaining and educational, and the city’s small size means it’s easy to visit them all in one trip.
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Situated on a mountainside, this Buddhist temple is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Chiang Mai. The views from the temple are incredible, and it’s definitely worth making the trek up to see it. The temple itself is beautiful, with intricate details and stunning architecture. If you’re looking for a place to appreciate natural beauty and learn about different cultures, Chiang Mai is the perfect destination.
Whether you’re interested in Thai art or architecture, there’s something here for everyone. For art lovers, Wat Arthorn has some fantastic paintings and sculptures. One of my favorite pieces was a painting that shows Buddha surrounded by lotus flowers. For architecture lovers, Wat Uthong houses both Siamese and European styles as well as more than 1,000 Buddha images. It really does have something for everyone!
The city center is also full of beautiful places like Viang Tha Night Market, which features hundreds of food stalls and shops selling items like silk scarves and leather sandals. There’s even a large fresh produce market called Warorot Market where you can find pretty much anything your heart desires. When you’re not out exploring the city, it’s nice to relax at one of the many resorts in Chiang Mai.
Doi Pui Village
Doi Pui is a beautiful place located in the attractive city of Chiang Mai. It is well known for its stunning scenery and lovely temples. The village is also home to many handicraft shops and art galleries. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and relax in the beautiful surroundings. You will find plenty of delicious food, including coffee and ice cream, as well as some local specialties like Nam Prik Nuea (spicy green chili dip).
It’s easy to explore the area on foot or by bicycle. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hire a tuk-tuk or mountain bike from the village gate and explore nearby towns such as San Kampaeng, Suthep, and Old Town. One thing you won’t want to miss is Wat Phra That Doi Pui. After exploring this temple, take a stroll around the lake before heading back to the village. Alternatively, if you feel up to it, climb up the hill behind the temple to see panoramic views of Chiang Mai.
It’s not hard to see why so many people come here with their families or friends. Whether you are looking for a peaceful escape from your busy life or just want somewhere new to explore, Doi Pui Village has something for everyone! There are plenty of great places to eat, explore, and enjoy the scenery. Don’t forget to stop at Wat Phra That Doi Pui for a tranquil break from all that exploration!
Huay Tung Tao
Just a few kilometers from Chiang Mai, Huay Tung Tao is a reservoir that’s perfect for a day of picnicking and relaxing. With its peaceful surroundings and lovely views, it’s no wonder this spot is so popular with locals and visitors alike. There’s plenty of space to spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic lunch, or you can take a dip in the refreshing water to cool off on a hot day.
If you’re looking for something more adventurous, there are also lots of different activities available like kayaking and dragon boat racing. If you need a break from your exploration of Chiang Mai, then Huay Tung Tao is a great place to spend the afternoon! It’s not too far away, so even if you don’t have much time to spare, it’ll be worth the visit. Spend some time here on a sunny day and experience one of Thailand’s most beautiful destinations for yourself!

Doi Inthanon
At 2,565 metres, . It’s a popular spot for hiking and bird watching, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Myanmar from the summit. The forest Park surrounding the mountain is home to some of Thailand’s rarest animals, including the giant hornbill.
If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai, Doi Inthanon is the perfect place to do it. With its serene forests and lush landscapes, it offers plenty of opportunities for those who are willing to make the climb up. For those who prefer not to hike or are unable to due to health reasons, there are also tours available that will take you around the park while giving you plenty of opportunity for sightseeing!
There are restaurants located along the paths so you can enjoy delicious Thai cuisine as well as a variety of snacks to fill your stomach with before beginning your journey back down. And for those interested in the history of this picturesque area, there are many monuments throughout the park dedicated to those who have made significant contributions to this country.
Elephant Nature Park
Today, the park is home to over 70 elephants, many of whom have been rescued from abusive situations. The park offers visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing animals. Visitors can watch elephant bathing sessions, feed them delicious treats or watch them play together in the river. It’s a wonderful place for anyone who wants to make a difference!

I’m really proud of all my babies, even though some were taken away by their mothers before we could teach them anything. We still let the others stay because they’re not used to life outside of the forest. But now I see them when they come back—they’re so smart and socialized that I know everything we did was worthwhile.
Bua Thong Sticky Waterfalls
These falls are located just outside of the city and are a great place to cool off on a hot day. The water is sticky, so you can walk right up the falls. The best part is that there are no crowds here, so you can enjoy the falls all to yourself. To get there, take a long-tail boat across Mae Ping River for about thirty minutes before arriving at the falls.
There’s also a restaurant at the bottom of the falls if you’re hungry! We recommend this spot because it offers views of some beautiful rice fields nearby. Make sure to ask your driver to drop you off at the top and hike down the stairs if you don’t want them to wait for you while you explore the area. For those looking for something more challenging, head over to Namtok Huai Phaeng Waterfalls.
If you have time, go check out Wat Suan Dok Temple and the night market near by as well! They’re a lot of fun and will help to balance out the sweetness from all the desserts you’ll be eating during your stay.
