The Hvíta Holmur Beach
Hvíta Holmur Beach is one of the most beautiful places in Reykjavik. With its natural beauty and architecture, it is no wonder that this place is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. Hvíta Holmur Beach has something for everyone, whether you’re looking to relax or explore.
There are plenty of things to do in this lovely city, and you’re sure to find something that suits your interests. You can get an insider’s view of Icelandic art at the Reykjavik Art Museum, then spend some time exploring Laugavegur Street (also known as Shopping Street) where you’ll find unique local shops and restaurants. If you want to enjoy the natural beauty of Iceland, head out to The Golden Circle—a route that takes travelers through various attractions like geysers, waterfalls, black sand beaches and more.
If you want to take a break from the natural world and experience the city itself, make your way up to Hallgrimskirkja Church with its iconic gold tower.
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Seljalandsfoss is one of the most beautiful places in Reykjavik. It’s a must-see for any visitor to the city. The waterfall is located just a short drive from the city center, and there are plenty of things to do in the area. In winter, it’s possible to cross over the top of the falls on an ice bridge or even walk behind them!
Other gorgeous waterfalls near Reykjavik include Skogafoss, Gullfoss, Hraunfossar, Dettifoss and Selfjallafoss. But those aren’t the only attractions you can visit while you’re in town – check out Thingvellir National Park and Pingvellir Church as well! You’ll be able to see some truly stunning natural wonders including Geysers, gushing hot springs, boiling mud pots and much more.
A stop at Reykjanesviti Lighthouse should also be included on your itinerary – with its staggering views of Reynisfjara Beach and its dangerous waves that have taken many lives over the years, it’s not hard to see why this site has become so famous. If you want an experience with less waves but still breathtaking scenery head to Snaefellsnes Peninsula where many scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed!
Perlan Museum
The Perlan Museum is one of the most beautiful places in Reykjavik. Along with these exhibitions are three galleries, which host various pieces of art from both international and local artists as well as interactive installations – perfect for all ages!
However, there is so much more to do here than just view the art; make sure to stop by their gift shop or restaurant while you’re there. Around this lake are several parks where locals come to play sports or simply relax during the day, but if you want to get a real sense of what it’s like to live in Iceland then head over to Tjörnin late at night.It is a ravishing destinations.
Grænavatn Lake
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Reykjavik, Grænavatn Lake is one of the city’s best-kept secrets. This serene spot is perfect for a peaceful stroll or a picnic lunch. The views are simply stunning, and the fresh air is invigorating.
If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, Grænavatn Lake is the perfect place to do it. As you walk around the picturesque water, be sure to stop at the geothermal area where many locals come for their daily swims. Afterwards, why not indulge in some Icelandic hot dogs at Laufskálavarða? It doesn’t get much more relaxing than that! You can even bring your own wine to sip on as you soak up all the natural beauty.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, take a leisurely stroll down Laugavegur Street for endless food options like Café Loki (located just across from Kaupþing) which has served delicious coffee since 1942. When it comes time to refuel after such an adventurous day, there’s no better place than Thorskbúðin Restaurant with its traditional cuisine done right!
Bruarfoss Waterfall
Reykjavik is a beautiful city with many ravishing destinations. One of these is Bruarfoss Waterfall, which is located just outside the city. This waterfall is one of the most beautiful in Iceland, and it is definitely worth a visit. The best time to see it is in the summer, when the sun shines on the waterfall and creates a rainbow.
It is possible to walk up close to the falls by following the path that starts near Keldur farm. You will have to cross over two small bridges before reaching it. Along this path you will also find some impressive waterfalls from lesser known rivers flowing into Bruarfoss. Here are some more fantastic places to explore in Reykjavik ! Thingvellir National Park: As well as being home to some of the oldest geological formations in Europe, Thingvellir National Park is also situated at the border between North America and Europe. As such, it is home to a number of different ecosystems within its borders. However, one thing Thingvellir National Park really isn’t short on is beauty.
Hveravellir Geothermal Area: Located north-west of Reykjavik, Hveravellir Geothermal Area features several hot springs that keep locals and visitors alike warm during those long Icelandic winters! Although they are not big enough for swimming or bathing they make for a pleasant site nonetheless! Landmannalaugar : Landmannalaugar offers an unforgettable experience for anyone who visits!
The Videy Island
Just a short ferry ride from the city center, Videy Island is one of Reykjavik’s best kept secrets. This beautiful island is home to a variety of birds and wildflowers, making it a perfect place for a nature lover to explore. There are also several hiking trails that wind through the island, giving you stunning views of the city and surrounding area. If you’re looking for a place to relax and take in the beauty of Reykjavik, Videy Island is definitely worth a visit. (optional picture) Here are some pictures I took when I visited Videy Island! The scenery was so breathtaking, it was hard to tear myself away from exploring the island. I spent most of my time walking along the waterline and gazing out at all the boats coming in and out of port. It really felt like there was nowhere else I wanted to be than right there on that beach.

The Mount Esja
Hiking to the top of Mount Esja is one of the most popular things to do in Reykjavik. The views from the top are breathtaking, and on a clear day, you can see all the way to Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The hike itself is not too difficult, but it is quite long, so make sure you give yourself enough time.
There are also a few different routes you can take to the top, so you can mix things up a bit if you want. If you’re feeling like taking it easy or if the weather isn’t cooperating, then we recommend checking out Hafnarfjörður instead.But don’t worry about getting bored here! You can always drive to Keflavík International Airport (KEF) and visit the Icelandic Aviation Museum which houses memorabilia from Icelandair’s history including aircraft parts such as propellers and turbines used in various planes dating back to 1940s.
They serve up delicious Icelandic dishes and traditional New Nordic cuisine using local ingredients. All their vegetables come from their own organic garden located next door. Their lunch menu offers three different options for around 1000 ISK per person including soup and coffee/tea.
