The road trip from Kabul to Baharak

The drive from Kabul to Baharak is one of the most scenic in Afghanistan. The route takes you through winding hills and valleys, and offers stunning views of natural beauty. Along the way, there are plenty of places to stop and explore. From hiking and picnicking in the hills, to visiting ancient ruins and archaeological sites, there is no shortage of things to do in this beautiful province.
The road trip from Mazar-e Sharif to Ferozkoh: One day we left Mazar-e Sharif and headed south towards Ferozkoh. As we drove along the Shomali Plain, it was easy to see why so many farmers are reluctant to leave their land despite pressure by government officials. The fields were a patchwork of cornfields, orchards, and vineyards—one of the most scenic landscapes I’ve seen anywhere in Afghanistan. Once we reached our destination, I had a chance to visit some of the natural wonders that draw tourists from all over the world.
The city of Baharak

Situated in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Baharak is a must-see for anyone interested in natural beauty. The city itself is home to a number of historical sites and there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, come explore the mesmerizing beauty of the Valleys of Badakhshan province with me! You’ll get to enjoy some great hikes that take you through scenic mountain ranges as well as incredible views. I can show you some cool waterfalls too, or help you find accommodation at one of the local hostels. With so much beauty to offer, this part of Afghanistan is truly one-of-a-kind! Here’s my top ten list of reasons why you should come here:
1) It’s one of the safest provinces in all of Afghanistan
2) There are breathtaking landscapes
3) Lots of opportunities for adventurous activities like hiking and camping
4) You might even see a snow leopard in winter if you’re lucky!
5) There are many cultural festivals and events to attend
6) So many different types of delicious food available
From Baharak to Nili Valley

The first valley I visited was Baharak Valley. I was able to see beautiful birds and flowers. The next valley I visited was Nili Valley. Nili Valley is known for its crystal clear water. It’s one of the most scenic places in Afghanistan.
Along the way, we stopped at a local shop selling delicious food. I also got to visit one of the oldest towers in Afghanistan, Qala-e-kuhna. It was really interesting learning about it because it’s still standing despite all that has happened in Afghanistan over time. The tower is believed to have been built during the 12th century by Amir Temur.
However, this isn’t confirmed and there are other theories as well. While we were exploring the tower, I found an old coin on the ground. When I showed it to my guide he laughed and said that tourists always leave things behind when they climb up stairs in order not to carry their belongings around.
The Nili Valley

Carved out by the magnificent Panj River, the Nili Valley is one of the most beautiful places in all of Badakhshan. With its towering mountains, pristine waters, and lush green valleys, it’s no wonder that this place is often called the Switzerland of Afghanistan. Come explore the Nili Valley with me and see for yourself why it’s such a special place. In addition to being breathtakingly beautiful, the valley has rich natural resources including marble deposits and emeralds which can be found in nearby mines.
The area has been home to agriculture and animal husbandry since ancient times. Today, many people rely on agriculture as their primary source of income which they grow using the water from the river to irrigate their fields while others make a living through mining gold or emeralds from nearby mines. There are also those who depend on livestock for their livelihood, like weavers who produce wool carpets for export. However you choose to earn your living, the Nili Valley offers plenty of opportunities to live a life full of happiness and contentment
Allakuli Valley

The Allakuli Valley is one of the most beautiful places in the Badakhshan province. The valley is home to a river that flows through it, and is surrounded by mountains. There are also many trees and plants that grow in the valley, making it a very lush and green place. The Allakuli Valley is a great place to hike, camp, and just spend time outdoors enjoying nature.
The best thing about this area is that there are no mosquitoes or other pests here, so you can enjoy being outside without being bothered. If you’re looking for a scenic location to spend your vacation, then this should be at the top of your list! And the best part is that while exploring all of these incredible places, you’ll be helping people who live in these areas.
Once tourists come to visit them, they will see how beautiful their country is and hopefully want to return on a regular basis. It’s an incredible opportunity for both tourists and locals alike – it would be such a shame not to take advantage of it!
Trekking in Gharu Chasma (aka. Fish Lake Gorge)
Gharu Chasma is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and it’s located in the Valleys of Badakhshan province. I had the opportunity to go trekking there, and it was an incredible experience. The scenery was breathtaking, and I even got to see some rare wildlife. If you ever have the chance to visit this amazing place, don’t hesitate! It will be worth every penny.
It will take a while to get here (about three hours by car), but that just means that when you arrive, you’ll be blown away by how pristine the environment is. Not only do you have all these gorgeous mountains to look at, but there are also tons of lakes nearby. These lakes are so tranquil; they’re perfect for those who want to spend time alone and connect with nature.
For example, one lake that I spent a lot of time at was called Fish Lake Gorge. One day, as I sat by the lake trying to come up with ideas for my blog post about my trip to the Valleys of Badakhshan province, I noticed something strange swimming right near me.
Returning back to Kabul

I had been living in New York City for about 10 years when I decided to return to my roots in Kabul, Afghanistan. It had been a tough decision, but I was yearning for a sense of belonging and community that I could only find back home.
Now that I’m settled back in, I’ve had the chance to explore different parts of the country that I hadn’t been able to visit before. And one of the most beautiful places I’ve discovered is the Valleys of Badakhshan province. The valley consists of a chain of interconnected valleys running east to west across the Afghan border. One can reach these enchanting valleys by either hiking up from Ishkashim or driving up from Kunduz on the Kunduz-Tashkurgan road.
The area has an altitude between 2,000 and 3,000 meters above sea level which makes it much cooler than Kabul. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking as you traverse through this stunning valley with green hillsides dotted with trees everywhere you look.
