Boppard is one of my favorite cities in Germany, and I’ve always said that one day I’ll do a video tour of it! The problem has always been that there are too many hidden gems in Boppard to fit into just one video, so here I am to finally solve that problem by writing about the city and its wonderful sights as well.
Strolling along the Rhine
The first thing you’ll notice in Boppard is the gorgeous art and architecture everywhere you look. The city has a rich history and culture, which is reflected in its many traditional buildings and landmarks. There are plenty of things to do in Boppard, from exploring its many places of beauty to enjoying its many cultural events. Come explore Boppard with me and see for yourself why it’s one of my favorite cities!
Boppard has long been known as an artists’ town, attracting creative minds and fostering creative minds. In addition to having some incredible places of beauty (such as St. Stephanus Church), Boppard hosts several art festivals throughout the year that give locals and visitors alike an opportunity to enjoy music, dance, theatre, street performances—all while admiring artsy installations.
Meeting by the bridge
When you first arrive in Boppard, you’ll be met by the stunning bridge that crosses the Rhine river. This is a great place to start your exploration of the city, and it’s perfect for taking some photos too! From here, you can wander through the narrow streets and soak up the traditional atmosphere.
There are plenty of things to do in Boppard, so you’re sure to find something that interests you. If you’re looking for culture, head to one of the many museums; there’s an art museum right in the centre of town and a museum dedicated to religious history if you want to learn more about what life was like before Christianity arrived.
Hiking through nature
When you’re in Boppard, you have to go on a hike! The best part about hiking in Boppard is that there are so many different trails to choose from, each with their own unique scenery. I recommend the Moselsteig trail – it’s about 32 kilometers long and takes you through some of the most gorgeous parts of the city. Trust me, it’s worth the trek!
There’s an abundance of fresh fruit stands scattered along the way, which make for perfect picnic material. Plus, once you reach your destination, it’s just spectacular – picture emerald green water as far as the eye can see. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to try something new (and maybe even more challenging!), head over to Teufelsberg.

2) Another amazing landmark is the old-town Bridge that spans across three different countries: Germany, France, and Luxembourg. Built in 1275 by a Benedictine monk, who was also an architect named Arnold von Westfalen, this bridge has been standing strong ever since then.
3) One last thing I would recommend seeing when visiting Boppard is their botanical garden called Botanischer Garten.

Unwind at a café
When you’re exploring a new city, it’s important to take some time to relax and recharge. I always like to find a cute café to sit down at and people watch. My personal favorite is Café Central.
They have delicious pastries and coffee, plus the perfect atmosphere for people watching. I love sitting outside in their courtyard on warm days because they have tables set up in the shade. If you’re looking for something more traditional, try Café Stadt Boppard instead. The inside is adorable and has an old-world charm to it that can be hard to find these days.
Their prices are pretty fair as well, so it’s a good option if you want to grab breakfast or lunch before going out sightseeing. Another great café to check out is Café Amaranta. They offer fresh juices and healthy salads, which makes them perfect for an afternoon snack break from all the walking around town. It’s such a treat when your feet get tired and you need to refuel.
Day trips to Koblenz and Mainz
Koblenz and Mainz are two great cities to visit if you’re looking to explore more of what Germany has to offer. They’re both easily accessible by train from Boppard, and there’s plenty to see and do in each place. In Koblenz, be sure to check out the Deutsches Eck, or German Corner, where the Mosel and Rhine rivers meet.
It’s an impressive sight to behold as it stands on a cliff overlooking the water. You can also take a walk along the cobblestone streets that wind their way through the old town district before stopping for coffee at one of many quaint cafes.
In Mainz, don’t miss a tour of the Gutenberg Museum which tells the story of Johannes Gutenberg and his invention of moveable type printing. A few hours exploring these lovely towns will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired.
