Chile: A land of beautiful destinations
Chile is a country located in South America, bordered by Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. With stunning natural scenery, ancient ruins, and well-preserved colonial towns, it’s easy to see why Chile has become an increasingly popular travel destination in recent years. Those who travel to Chile will be treated to untouched beaches, breathtaking vistas from hot air balloons and scenic hiking trails, and some of the best wine in the world!
Easter Island
One of the most famous places in Chile is Easter Island, home to the world-renowned Moai statues. These monolithic human figures were carved by the Rapa Nui people and are a symbol of their ancient culture. Today, Easter Island is a popular tourist destination for its unique history and architecture. Visitors can explore the island’s many archaeological sites, including the ceremonial village of Orongo, or enjoy its natural beauty by hiking one of its many trails.
You can also visit Rano Kau volcano crater with its unusual fairy ring lava formation or Ahu Akivi, an intricately designed stone platform at which various rituals would have been performed. The final stop on your tour should be the visitor center near Hanga Roa harbor where you’ll learn about all of these places that make this destination so special. The architecture throughout Easter Island showcases the traditional style of building using wooden beams called manavai and hau.
The art found here features natural motifs such as sea turtles, tuna fish, frigate birds, and plants like hibiscus flowers.
Puerto Varas
Situated in the Lakes Region of Chile, Puerto Varas is a small city with a lot to offer. From its German colonial architecture to its natural beauty, Puerto Varas is a must-see destination. End your visit by stopping by El Chorito Mountain Farm and picking up some fresh fruit or local produce. All in all, Puerto Varas is a city that can’t be missed while traveling through Chile. Visitors will not only experience great food and shopping but will get a chance to see one of the most beautiful places in the country. It’s definitely worth going off the beaten path to explore Puerto Varas and soak up everything it has to offer.
Osorno Volcano National Park
This national park is home to the Osorno Volcano, one of Chile’s most active volcanoes. The volcano is surrounded by forests, lakes, and rivers, making it a popular destination for hiking and camping. Visitors can also enjoy fishing, boating, and horseback riding in the park. There are several trails on which visitors can hike up close to the volcano and explore. Camping overnight at the Osorno Volcano National Park offers great views of sunrise over the Andes Mountains!
One night’s stay costs $12 USD per person and includes use of the campsite and restrooms, but you must bring your own tent. The best time to visit this park is during the spring or fall because of lower visitor rates and better weather conditions. Lago Puelo National Park
Situated in Argentina’s Patagonia region, Lago Puelo National Park is a nature lover’s paradise. The park is home to glaciers, waterfalls, and forests, as well as an array of wildlife including Andean condors, pumas, and guanacos. Visitors can enjoy hiking, camping, and fishing in the park. Hikers may spot some species of deer, guanaco (a wild llama), or even an occasional fox ; they are a common sight here. however, these animals are generally shy and will try to avoid contact with humans at all costs.
All visitors should be mindful that there are no fences or guardrails in this national park. Be sure not to wander off trails or leave children unattended on cliffs! You may want to spend your time at Lago Puelo visiting one of the local lakes, or taking a kayak tour. You could also climb one of the peaks like Cerro de la Plaza and take in the panoramic views from atop one of Chile’s tallest mountains.
Torres del Paine National Park
Situated in southern Chile, Torres del Paine National Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. The park is home to a variety of landscapes, including mountains, glaciers, and lakes. Visitors can enjoy hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities. Hikers are rewarded with views of spectacular natural wonders, such as the Towers of Torres Del Paine. If you’re looking for an adventurous experience, take part in mountain biking through the Patagonian countryside or try kayaking on the Nahuel Huapi Lake.
Some people might be discouraged by the long flight from North America, but once they arrive at their destination they’ll understand that it was worth it. For those who want to explore the outdoors without leaving their hotel room, there’s plenty of opportunity to do so in Torres del Paine National Park. There are many opportunities for wildlife viewing, and tourists will often see pumas, foxes, condors, and more. With its varied terrain and incredible natural beauty this is a great place to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Desert of Atacama
Known for its dry conditions and lack of vegetation, the Atacama Desert looks more like a Martian landscape than anything else. This mysterious landscape is just one of the many things you can explore in the Atacama Desert. From the Valley of the Moon to geysers and hot springs, this is one of Chile’s most captivating spots. Additionally, it is an ideal place for observing the stars.
Get your fill of natural beauty at the Valley of the Moon or admire intricate drawings etched into rock faces by ancient civilizations at Chañaral de Aceituno. For more spectacular views, drive up to nearby Cerro Paranal for panoramic views from atop one of the world’s largest observatories. Just beyond the city limits lies Vallenar, where you can visit San Pedro Hill which was once populated with silver mines. In recent years, however, it has become something of a ghost town as all mining activity ceased in 2002 due to environmental concerns.
Santiago de Chile
Santiago, the capital of Chile, is a bustling metropolis with a rich colonial history dating back to the 16th century. The city’s central Plaza de Armas is home to the Palacio de la Moneda, the seat of the Chilean government, as well as the Metropolitan Cathedral. Santiago is also home to many museums and art galleries, making it a great destination for culture lovers. Visitors should check out the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, which houses an extensive collection of pre-Columbian pieces from all over Latin America.
In Santiago’s Cerro San Cristobal lies an amazing observatory where visitors can admire breathtaking views of the city skyline. It has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Other important attractions in Santiago include El Morro National Monument, one of the best preserved Spanish colonial fortresses in the Americas; Las Condes Avenue (known locally as la Costanera), one of the most expensive shopping districts in South America; and La Reina Square.
The La Serena

If you’re looking for a more active vacation, Valdivia (seven sentences): Chile’s southern city of Valdivia is located in the south. It is known for its stunning scenery, its outdoor activities, and its friendly people. Valdivia is a great place to have an adventurous time while enjoying the natural beauty of Chile. It’s also a fantastic option if you want to visit with your family as there are many family-friendly attractions such as going on boat tours or visiting cultural sites like the Iglesia del Carmen.
As you can see, Chile is a country full of natural beauty and wonderful cities. If you’re looking for somewhere to go that’s new and different, Chile could be your destination.
Itinerary/Where to Stay – Second Paragraph: I recommend spending four days in Santiago so that you have time to visit both attractions. After a day or two in Santiago, I suggest heading down south for some beach time.
Valparaiso and Viña del Mar
These two neighboring cities are located on Chile’s central coast and offer stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Valparaiso is known for its colorful houses and cobblestone streets, while Viña del Mar is a popular beach destination. Both cities offer a variety of activities and attractions, making them perfect for a weekend getaway. Hire a bike in Valparaiso to explore the city’s steep hills and visit one of many museums or art galleries. In Viña del Mar, be sure to enjoy an afternoon by the ocean and eat fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants near Playa El Palmar Beach.
The best way to end your day is by watching the sunset over the water. For those who love skiing, head north to Bariloche, which offers all four seasons in just one day. As soon as you arrive at Villa la Angostura, you will feel as if you have been transported into another world with expansive mountains and rivers surrounded by lush forests that produce some of the world’s best-tasting wines.
Aguas Calientes is also home to Inca ruins like Machu Picchu which was abandoned by its inhabitants after they were conquered by the Spanish conquistadors in 1572. Today it stands preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to Peru’s efforts in preserving it through tourism.
